Happy Friday! I picked up this kit a few days ago at a local chain called Gordmans and was eager to try it out. This kit is available in 4 different combinations of colors, you can see the other 3 on Cherry Culture's site. I picked up this combination of colors because it was something I normally wouldn't. :P
A quick look at the box, instructions and ingredients. You can click on the photos to enlarge them :)
First up is a bright-tealish creme. All nails are 2 coats with no top coat.
This color was a tad streaky in one coat, but when over another color it only took 1 coat. It's a really pretty blue that leans a little teal.
Next we have a chocolate brown creme. Shown is 2 coats with no top coat.
Another great formula and almost a 1 one coater!
The third polish is a gold glitter based polish with smaller silver glitter and medium sized silver holographic glitter. All nails are 2 coats with top coat.
This polish was very dry when I opened it, so I had to add a few drops of thinner to make it workable. After that though it was smooth sailing. Since it is a glitter packed polish you will need a good top coat to smooth it out.
The last polish is a nude creme with a hint of shimmer. All nails are 3 coats with no top coat.
This polish was a tad streaky and I did need extra coats to smooth it all out. The shimmer was really hard to capture because it is very subtle, but my close up photos caught some of it. :)
So being this a nail art kit, I had to do some nail art! :) For this manicure I started with the brown polish in this kit and added one coat of the gold glitter. I used the included brush to drag the gold glitter down into a gradient.
Top is L.A. Girl stickers vs random ones I had in my stash |
So now I'm sure you are wondering why I didn't try chevron stripes with stickers included, well because they are a pain in the butt! They are too large to do more than one per nail, unless you have very long nails, and they are too stiff to create clean lines with. :/ Honestly I got so frustrated trying to get them to look right (I did 4 failed manicures with them) that I gave up trying any other art with this kit. >_<
Overall, I do like this kit minus the stickers, and I'm happy I went with this color range. I paid $3.99 for this kit (before tax) and think that was reasonable for everything included.
