Hi everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend! I was able to get a lot of swatches done, so be prepared for some larger swatch posts! :P A few weeks ago Wenche, who runs Norway Nails, asked me to pick a few products to review so I picked a nice rainbow of colors and different brands to try a little of everything. :) Norway Nails now offers worldwide shipping (excluding Lynnderella polishes) so make sure to check out all of the polishes she has to offer!
Jindie Nails Purple Penguin Punch contains an assortment of matte and holographic pink, purple and white glitters in a shimmery base. This polish is an exclusive to Norway Nails. Shown is 1 coat dabbed over 3 coats of Miss Ashleigh Hot Flush.
This polish is tons of fun! I didn't need to fish for any glitters and as you can see got plenty of them out with just one dabbed coat. Wenche loves purple and penguins, so when you combine them you get something pretty like this! :P
Linda Johansen Brookside Moss is described as a warm and dark forrest green polish with a undershimmer of gold. All nails are 2 coats with no top coat.
I was eager to try more polishes from Linda Johansen after Wenche gifted me a bottle of Razzle Dazzle and I loved it so much. I can officially say I'm hooked on these polishes now! They have an amazing formula and a great selection of colors. Brookside Moss is a gorgeous polish and this is coming from someone who isn't a huge green fan. :P Even in lower light the shimmer still gives off a glowing look. :)
Linda Johansen Jive is listed as a deep elegant green/turqoise color with a dusty layer of glitter. These photos are 2 coats with top coat.
Another awesome color with a great formula from Linda Johansen The base color is a very unique color and the glitter adds a nice pop. It did dry semi-matte, so a top coat will help smooth it all out, otherwise nothing to report except I need more Linda Johansen polishes! :P
Miss Ashleigh Hot Flush is a purple (when cold) to pink (when warm) thermal polish with scattered holo throughout. All nails are 3 coats with top coat.
The first set of photos are this polish in it's cold state. Since it's so cold here and I often go outside to wait for polish to dry while I write up posts, my nails "stuck" in this state. :P Both the pink and purple colors are very pretty and the I love the scatted holo finish. Formula was easy to work with regarding dry time and consistency, but I did have some problem with clumps of pigment. You can see a little in my bottle shot below there is some blue that doesn't mix up completely (even after tons of shaking) and I thought that wouldn't be a huge problem until a few nails ended up with pieces of pigment. They were easy to cover up with additional coats of polish or I noticed them on my brush before applying and wiped them off, but just as a heads up you may want to be careful when applying it. :)
Here is it dipped in warm water to show off the color change. :)
Nailstation Top Gloss in Violet is a very sheer pink polish. On all nails except my ring nail, I have 2 coats over 4 coats of Sally Hansen Great White. My ring nail is 4 coats of Sally Hansen Great White.
The shimmer you see is from the Sally Hansen polish and even though it's listed as having shimmer, Top Gloss in Violet is just a sheer polish that can easily add a bit of pink to any color you already own. :) If you were to use this alone, I think it would take a lot of coats to build it up to even having a jelly finish, so I would recommend just adding it over something else. ;) Formula was great though; nice consistency and it dried quickly with a shiny finish. :)
Nailstation Yellow Peel is a darker yellow with a slightly frosty finish. Shown is 3 coats without top coat.
Normally I avoid yellows because they don't work with my skin tone, but in trying to have a rainbow of colors I had to have at least one yellow and I'm happy I picked this one! It is a tad darker than other yellows I have and I think that helps with working with my skin tone. The finish is really nice too because it's not super frosty, just a nice sheen. Formula, like Top Gloss in Violet, was great!
Snails Mrs. Carrot Head is loaded with shimmer in a pumpkin-orange base. All nails are 3 coats with no top coat.
I hadn't heard of this brand before browsing Norway Nails and if you haven't either, you should check out the brand's site! It's a brand aimed for children (what can I say I don't want to believe I'm a grown up :P) and is nontoxic and washes off with soap and water. I can attest that it has no smell whatsoever and comes off with soap and water. I did have to scrub a little with the soap and water to get it completely off, but it really wasn't much work at all. If you want it to last longer the brand makes a top coat or what I did was just apply a normal top coat and it stayed put when I scrubbed with soap and water and came off with normal remover. Formula was perfect; not too thick or too thin and it dried much quicker than I thought it would. It's advertised to dry within 3 mins though for me it dried in 1-2 mins, so not terribly long. The color is really pretty and I think overall this polish is great for kids and adults (or adults who are just young at heart :P).
